Pilates is one of the most popular forms of exercise in the Western world.

It was developed in the 20th century in the USΑ by Joseph Pilates. Initially, it was called Contrology as it described the precise control of movements

Pilates is suitable for all ages and fitness levels as the exercises are divided into levels depending on each individual’s needs.

The principles on which pilates is based are concentration, control, breathing, core strengthening, precision and flow of movement.

The benefits of pilates are many including: pain relief, correct posture, an even strengthening of body and core muscles, increased flexibility, improved balance, strength and muscle endurance as well as the decompression of the spine.

The Pilates Mat and Props class is based on the pilates method as instructed by its inventor Joseph Pilates.

A characteristic of this method is the way the exercises are done on the mat with different props like small and large pilates balls, bands, foam rollers etc.

Pilates Mat and Props can be taught individually or in small groups (up to 10).
